If you wish to sign up for one of the internal waiting lists, contact the Secretariat and state your full name(s), current room number (only for residents at Nybrogård Kollegiet) and e-mail address(es), as well as the rooms/apartments you wish to sign up for.
You can contact the Secretariat to be informed of your position on the waiting list. Due to GDPR, this information is not publicly available.
If a lease becomes available, and you are one of the first three applicants for that lease, you will receive a letter with a formal offer in your mail box. The offer will be written in Danish. The letter will state the room number of the available lease, when the lease is available and whether you are applicant number one, two or three.
The offer must be returned to the Secretariat before the deadline stated in the letter.
You (and your partner) must present proof of study for at least 6 months after the move-in date. If you already live at Nybrogård Kollegiet, you must hand in a termination of your current lease. The termination date must be two weeks after the move-in date of the new lease.
If the Secretariat does not receive a signed offer from you within 6 days, or if you submit the offer without study documentation, this is interpreted as a “no” to the lease and the lease goes on to the next person on the waiting list. If you are in doubt as to whether you can obtain study documentation before the response deadline, contact the Secretariat as soon as possible. If you say no to an offer three times, you will be removed from the waiting list.
It is important to emphasize that a signed offer is not a legally binding document, which means that you are not entitled to the lease solely on the basis of a signed offer. You are only entitled to the lease once you have signed a contract with KAB and paid the first rent and any deposit.
After the Secretariat has received your signed offer for the lease, this document is sent to KAB, which sends you a contract to be signed and sent back to KAB. KAB will also send you a charge for the first month’s rent as well as a deposit. Be aware that you may have to pay a deposit on the new lease before you have received a deposit back on your original lease.
There is always an overlap of 14 days when you move from a lease to a new one. These 14 days are spent putting your new lease in order. Once you have moved your things from your old tenancy, make an appointment with the heating master. He then assesses whether any damage has been done to your old lease, which may lead to a recalculation.
